In the afternoon of January 9, 2020, Professor Chen Jun, Dean of the Graduate School of Wollongong University, Australia, was invited to give an academic report to our university. The academic report was held in the Si Cheng Hall of Hubei University Conference Center, and was hosted by Professor Zhang Xiuhua, Vice Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. Moreover, the report is also attended by a number of teachers like Wang Shengfu, Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and postgraduate students.

Professor Jun Chen's presentation was entitled "Conducting Polymer based Bipolar Electrochemistry for Wireless Stimulation". In his presentation, Professor Chen introduced the principles and construction of bipolar electrochemistry and its combination with conducting polymers for wireless cell stimulation. The presentation covered both the construction of bipolar electrochemical devices and the selection of conducting polymers, as well as an in-depth study of the prospects and importance of bipolar electrochemistry for cell stimulation. In addition, Prof. Chen introduced some knowledge about the construction of 3D printing devices to the audience. Everyone was eager to ask questions and Prof. Chen answered them patiently in turn, which made everyone gain a lot.

Dr Jun Chen received his PhD from the School of Chemistry, University of Wollongong, Australia in 2003. He is currently the Professor and Dean of Graduate Studies at the University of Wollongong, Australia, and Principal Investigator of the Australian Institute for Innovative Materials, the Intelligent Polymer Research Institute (IPRI)/ARC Centre of Excellence in Electrical Materials Science (ACES) and the Australian Institute for Innovative Materials (AIIM). His research is focused on sustainable energy devices/systems, electronic/biological interfaces, nano/micro materials, 2D/3D printing and the design and manufacture of intelligent electronic devices, and he has been awarded over $28 million in various Australian funding programs. Dr. Jun Chen has published more than 190 papers in Nature Catalysis, JACS, Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Advanced Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, ACS NANO and other journals, with an H-index of 52, and was recognized as a highly cited scientist by Web of Science in 2018. In addition to his academic achievements, Professor Chen Jun has also been involved in running two companies that have raised over US$10 million in venture capital funding for research and development.
